Week 34

January 4, 2023

I'm going to keep this one pretty short, but it's been a good week. My companion and I have been working on obedience and responsibility as of recent, and we've seen huge blessings as a result. We've been guided much more by the spirit. Even though the two of us can't possibly keep up with opening an area with two wards, we've been reminded that we have Jesus on our team, which means we automatically win ðŸ˜Ž. With His help we've been able to meet with investigators, support both active and inactive members, as well as find new people, all on a daily basis. All this while having a bad ankle, large travel distances, hills, two wards, no prior knowledge of the area, Christmas and New Years (which is when everyone leaves to visit family), and more. Once you realize Christ is more powerful than your challenges, you start to trust Him a lot more. And only after the trial of your faith, do you see the miracles.


Speaking of miracles, I've been getting up almost on time in the mornings ðŸ˜Ž. You know what that means? Literally anything is possible. I'm living proof.

Keep Fernando in your prayers, he isn't feeling great right now.

Ricardo too. We found him in the streets today, he's going through a really difficult time and he doesn't know what to do, pray for him.

I've seen far too much to ever deny Christ and His infinite love for us, as well as His divinity. You cannot ever convince me otherwise, and that's not out of stubbornness, it's because I know. It's not a perfect knowledge, but it's a perfect brightness of hope; faith. I'm not perfect, but I'm working everyday to do better.

Read the Book of Mormon

It doesn't matter who you are, find one and read it. If you don't believe in God this book will quickly fix your misled unbelief.

Anyways, this is my unorganized train of thought for all of you this week.

Starting next week, I want to give a brief version of each lesson we teach to our new investigators. If you ever have doubts or questions about the church or some doctrinal principle, find the missionaries near you. They will help you find the hope you didn't know existed.

  February 8, 2023 This email is going to be a little bit different this week. I've been writing emails every week and that's really been my journal writing, and this week I want to express some thoughts and feelings that are a little more personal. #1 is that I no longer enjoy speaking just English or Spanish, my preferred language is Spanglish. When I'm tired after a long day I revert to thinking in mostly Spanish - Spanglish. #2 is that these past 2 weeks have been harder. We've had some of the best lessons I've had in the mission and when I'm outside I have energy and enthusiasm and I really enjoy what I'm doing. Week 55: 11 Months Left

May 31, 2023 Sorry I haven't written in so long. These past two months have been... interesting... to say the least. We've been grinding through being sick these past two months, little to no interest from the majority of people here, stress, anxiety, depression, losing focus, etc. Despite everything, we've only stayed for like 4 days this transfer, we still joked and laughed through everything going on, and despite literally all odds, we hosted a wedding, and right after, two baptisms. Now we have tons of references, we're not sick anymore, and the stress, anxiety, etc. I don't feel it anymore. These two months have been the absolute most difficult I've had in the mission, but this time has also been the greatest blessing I've received, and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Week 36-38: Return of the Email

February 1, 2023 Return of the Email. I'm back.  We've been busy and I've been especially tired, but here we are again. Week 36: Ok, we worked hard this week finding people to teach and preparing little Carlos for his baptism. Week 37: We found a good number of people that we can move forward with, AND... Carlos got baptized!!!  . He's the first person that I've taught start to finish and had the opportunity to baptize, so that was super awesome and exciting. Week 38: On Sunday everyone in stinking Guatemala got sick. Not literally, but almost everyone in our area had a cold this past week, us included, so we still went out and worked but we took it a little easier so we could recuperate quickly. Also, we got transfer news... we're both staying here. So that's super awesome because there's a lot of work to do. Also for pday, we went to a rich area in the city in taxi.
