Week 42
March 1, 2023
Alrighty, just chugging along now. I've learned I shouldn't be so hard on myself, so I've been improving a lot. I have more energy than I did even just last week. I've been getting up on time everyday and I'm finally studying some things I've wanted to. I also want to give thanks to everyone who wrote me. Sorry for not getting back, we don't exactly have a lot of time, but I've read every single one, and I'm grateful to each and every one of you. Your words helped me a lot. This transfer definitely hasn't been the easiest, but I've learned the most here, and that's a huge blessing. I know that everything that happens here is only for good in the end. "Thou knowest the greatness of God; and he shall consecrate thine afflictions for thy gain." - 2 Nephi 2:2
Transfers are coming up, and I'm ready. I need some kind of change, something to spice things up. Something to keep me on my toes. There's been rumors that they might finally split this area, meaning that the missionaries here won't have to cover two wards anymore. That would help more than anything. I'm not going to lie, working two wards is exhausting. I really hope they're able to split the wards, because they are both amazing, with such wonderful people, but with two 19, 20 year old kids, it's tough to manage. Nevertheless, we have a baptism scheduled for Tuesday!! Hard work pays off, sometimes we just have to dig in and grit our teeth. This transfer has definitely brought me to my knees at times. I've learned a lot about what it means to find strength in Christ, to rely on Him, and to love Him enough to trust Him more than I trust myself. I've learned the true power of repentance, and worthily partaking of the sacrament, and the true change it can bring to someone's life.More than anything, I've learned more of what it means to "walk with God," specifically through my prayers. These basic things we learn as children really have so much more power than we can really comprehend. And the only real way to learn of these things, is to try applying them to our lives. We can't enjoy the flavor of a food we've never tried. We can't enjoy the beautiful view until after we've summit the mountain. We can't ever do anything, unless we believe that there's a way.God loves you. He rejoices when we do, He weeps when we do. Man are that they might have joy. This is why there are thousands of missionaries all over the Earth today. Because each and every one of us have tried this food, we've summited mountains, and we believe there is a way. We've found a real happiness that can't be found anywhere else.As missionaries we sacrifice a lot everyday. We leave EVERYTHING, just to share a message with you. We've found something real, and we want to share it with you. All we ask is for you to follow the Savior, and find a love and happiness that we promise you cannot find anywhere else. He can change your life, but only if you let Him.~Elder OwensPhotos
